Realty welcomes over 2,000 real estate professionals, policymakers and academics at Gare Maritime in Brussels
Good mix of inspiring conferences and extensive networking explains success
September 19, 2024
BRUSSELS, Thursday, 19th September, 2024 – Realty, the annual national real estate summit, once again hosted over 2,000 real estate professionals, policymakers and academics at the Gare Maritime site in Brussels. “Our partners and guests appreciated the combination of a varied and inspiring conference program, with optimal networking opportunities. They made important contacts for the future. And that is the ultimate goal,” said Kristiaan Pauwels, Head of Event at Realty.
Local and international themes, such as the future of Brussels and affordable housing, clearly caught the eye
The Gare Maritime was the meeting place for real estate professionals, policy makers and academics last Tuesday and Wednesday. The 16th edition of Realty was a success.
“We can look back on a successful edition. The response from our guests was extremely positive. There was a good vibe from the start. Our partners and guests confirmed that they were able to make interesting contacts. And that is what Realty stands for: sharing insights and knowledge with each other, to put them to practice afterwards, working together and closing deals.” Kristiaan Pauwels, Head of Event, Realty.
The strength of Brussels
Tuesday morning started with a detailed economic outlook for the Belgian real estate sector. One of Realty's three central themes this year, “The Future of Cities,” also attracted considerable interest: what are leading examples of urban development? What are the latest insights on climate issues? Is Brussels becoming a model city in Europe? It was clear that many real estate experts are concerned about these topics. There were more than 400 interested parties for the conference “Focus on the city of Brussels” with Brussels mayor Philippe Close and a number of major real estate developers as speakers.
International guests
A number of international speakers didn’t pass unnoticed either. For example, Jan Pieter Balkenende, former prime minister of the Netherlands, shared his expertise on how principles of sustainability can be integrated into business strategy. In addition – thanks to a successful collaboration between Realty and hub.brussels - more than 40 internationally renowned architects were present at Realty. Daniel Rosbottom (London), Gudrun Sack (Berlin) and Francesco Della Casa (Geneva) presented some of Europe's most inspiring architectural projects.
Policy makers and academics
Realty is not just a summit for real estate professionals. Policy makers and academics were also present. In addition to Philippe Close (mayor of Brussels), Mohamed Ridouani (mayor of Leuven), Vincent Van Quickenborne (former deputy prime minister and mayor of Kortrijk) and Stefan Moser (Deputy Director-General DG Energy of the European Commission), among others, also made an appearance.
“We look back from the organization on a very successful real estate summit. Our intention to bring together decision makers in the real estate sector, policy makers and academics was well received. We will be here again next year”. Kristiaan Pauwels, Head of Event, Realty.
Realty will take place next year at Gare Maritime, on September 16 and 17, 2025.
