DOMITYS HET REIHOF: a new service residence offering comfortable and accomodating living for seniors in West Flanders

Bruges welcomes a new residence for seniors in the heart of West Flanders. Project developer ION has spent the past 18 months building the unique residence 'Het Reihof' on behalf of operator DOMITYS, France's number one senior residences and a member of the AG2R LA MONDIALE Group. The 10,755 sq m residence, located near the Ten Boomgaarde park, will welcome residents who can enjoy their retirement in peace and quiet and in an unrivalled environment. Today, the residence will be officially handed over by operator DOMITYS in the presence of mayor Dirk De fauw, alderman Franky Demon, architectural firm A1AR and property developer ION. Residents will be able to move into the residence from 2024.

'Het Reihof', an innovative senior residence with a focus on residents' comfort and personal service, is located south of the centre of Bruges, a stone's throw from the historic city centre. The number of senior citizens has steadily increased in recent years, resulting in a rising demand for senior residences. Figures from Statistics Flanders show that 1 in 5 residents in Belgium were over 65 in July 2022. This trend also continues in Bruges. 25% of residents are 65 or older. Comfortable and safe

The 113 assisted living flats, spread over three wings, accommodate 134 tenants and each one is equipped with a kitchen, a bathroom with a walk-in shower, one or two bedroom(s), and a spacious living room. Each flat has a terrace so residents can enjoy the sun.

The residents of Sint-Michiels take a keen interest in the senior residence. Thanks to its size, the residence adds dynamism to the urban fabric and plays an active role in interweaving and maintaining relationships between residents and neighbourhood residents.

The Reihof was built with the liveability and mobility of the neighbourhood in mind. The distribution of the residences over three wings ensures a nice integration of the architecture with the neighbourhood. Moreover, the spacious underground car park with 80 parking spaces and 83 bicycle parking spaces for residents, visitors and employees considerably increases the number of parking spaces available.

Exemplary project

Today, Het Reihof was officially handed over in the presence of Dirk De fauw, Mayor of Bruges, Franky Demon, Alderman for spatial planning, architect Jozef Hessel (A1AR), operator Domitys, and property developer ION. Attendees were given a tour of the finished residence for the first time. A few tenants were able to view their future home.
