Construction works for MG Park Malmö have started: a new section for the city’s harbor

Real estate developer MG Real Estate has just started the construction of a new section at Malmö Industrial Park in the city’s northern harbor. The new project was named “MG Park Malmö” and stretches over 6.6 hectares, on which the real estate company plans to build warehouses, totaling 42,000 square meters. In the meantime, the first company to settle in the new buildings has already announced its arrival. Smeg, the famous Italian home appliance manufacturer most known for their iconic refrigerators, will move into the first building by the end of this year.

The first seven ton weighing concrete column was symbolically placed at the building site this afternoon, representing the start of the construction works at MG Park Malmö. In a few years, this logistic hub within Malmö Industrial Park will be fully built, consisting of several warehouses with connected, modern and aesthetic offices, for a total of 42,000 square meters. The project is led by real estate developer MG Real Estate.

The location at the northern harbor of Malmö is a true logistic hotspot: it’s near the E20 and E6 motorways and it’s also easily accessible for both cargo ships and trains. Large companies such as DHL, Toyota, Dachser, Bring and Postnord have already grasped the opportunity to make Malmö harbor their home, which demonstrates the popularity of the area as a central logistics hub.

First tenant to move into MG Park Malmø: Smeg Nordic 

Even though the construction works have only just begun, the real estate developer has already signed an agreement with the first company who will settle in the new buildings. Smeg Nordic, the Scandinavian branch of the Italian home appliance manufacturer, will move into the first warehouse. To most people, Smeg is probably best known for their iconic refrigerators, although these are just a fraction of their much larger array of products.

“We will start up our new warehouse in Malmö in December, so it should be operational in the beginning of 2022. MG Park Malmö pledges to aim high in terms of sustainability, a key element for MG Real Estate. The construction will be BREEAM certified, the world’s leading sustainability assessment method.

After the construction of Smeg Nordic’s warehouse by the end of the year, MG Real Estate will continue to build speculatively at MG Park Malmö, to meet the needs and wishes of today’s leading, future oriented companies. This due to the strong demand in the market for facilities.
